Made New!
A new morning, a new day? How can it be when everything of the past, and the shame and the regrets of the present also, remain? How can it be new? When what pushes you forward is only what guilts you to action. When what makes you take your next step is only what forces you to, just so you can survive, because you have to.
But new?? How?
How can a morning be new, be promising? How can a new day bring hope? When it feels so hopeless, so despairing, from the start.
Every morning, the same struggles. The same battle raging on. But new?? There’s nothing new here. Only the same old life.
But, if there is something new in each day, something gloriously new each morning, so new that it brings with it an actual promise of real hope. Then what is it? What is it that’s worth grasping for and clinging to and depending on so that real hope results?
What is it? What is new??
God’s mercy, that is what’s new!
God’s grace is what’s new!
God’s love, new!
God’s peace, yes, His peace is new!
God’s faithfulness and kindness and forgiveness and gentleness, all are new every morning!
New, just for you, all because of Jesus.
When your failings and everything of the past that haunt you remain, Christ’s mercy proclaims, “Yes, you deserved death, but I saved you from the punishment of death, and I gave you life instead.” (Romans 6:23)
When you finally see that all your efforts to try to earn salvation yourself are what they are - worthless, Christ’s grace declares, “You are priceless to Me every morning simply because I made you.” (Psalm 139:14)
When your seeking and searching for love in all the wrong places proves futile, Christ’s love touches you and reveals to you, “You are loved because you are Mine, and for no other reason. I love you.” (Isaiah 43:1)
When the chaos of your life shouts out that nothing is in order and everything is by chance, for peace feels so very impossible because of your circumstances, the Prince of Peace, Christ Himself, announces, “Do not be afraid! I am all the peace you need. I leave you my peace. Despite the trials, I reign.” (John 14:27)
When your despair and depression, when your hopelessness and futility, all mount high to try to declare that there is nothing new in your same old insignificant life, in your same old day, it is Christ’s faithfulness and forgiveness that give life, always. It’s Christ’s kindness and gentleness that give life. That are what is new, every morning. (Ephesians 2:7; Titus 3:4-5)
So you, run to Him. It’s the only way. It’s the only way to new mornings. Life in Christ. New life. Eternal life. His life! The very life that is yours. It’s what makes each day new again.
Because He lives in you, His grace, His mercy, His love and peace, faithfulness, kindness, forgiveness and gentleness, all are new every morning, all for you!
