Grace Upon Grace
When you feel you’ve rightfully earned it and finally reached it, and you’re now justly qualified to receive it, grace takes you one step further to show you your need once more. Not your right-doings or your right-earnings, but your need. Grace given to you does that, it softens you to see your need once again.
Because it’s your need that warrants grace. Your need to receive when you step out, trying so hard on your own. Your need to abide when you strive so hard to only do what is right. Your need to receive and receive again when you look to your achievements to satisfy. For grace can never be earned or measured, but only received, or it wouldn’t be grace at all.
And it’s your need, your falling short of the glory of God, that warrants the grace of God. That’s right. Your need for His forgiveness, for His grace, is what warrants your receiving it.
For that’s the power of God.
Forgiveness, already paid for, taken care of, and freely given. For you. The wrath of God, already satisfied, every sin wiped clean and freely forgotten. For you. That’s the power of the grace of God.
For you who have called on the name of the Lord Jesus to be saved, your life is covered by the grace of God. For you who have softened over and over from seeing your need, your life is healed by His grace. For you who have given up the fight and surrendered your efforts, acknowledging God has already won the battle, your life is opened to receive God’s grace in abundance.
So you see. That’s what grace does. It prepares a heart to receive from God. So you can walk forward with God Almighty. Yes, that’s exactly what grace does. It sets you free to come with confidence before the throne of God and receive from Him grace upon grace.

“For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” - John 1:16 ESV
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood…” - Romans 3:23-25 NLT
