Grace Let In
No way! It couldn’t have been done any other way. It can’t be done any other way. Relentless grace that changes hearts and saves souls. It couldn’t be done any other way. There is only one way to allow grace in.
When a soul gives up trying because of the impossibility of life. When a life feels like a lost cause. When it’s too late. When you’ve gone too far. When your mistakes and failures are too big, and your heart is too hard. When your mind is too critical and your doubts are too many. And you know it to be so.
That’s when grace is allowed in.
Because there really is only one way. Only one way for grace to be known. One way for grace to be welcomed into a life.
It’s only through despair that you realize your need for grace and you allow grace to step in. Every time. It is the one way to receive. It is the only way to receive grace upon grace.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Because every intention of man from his youth revolts against God and His grace, and is evil continually (Genesis 6:5, 8:21). It’s true. You naturally rebel against God. You naturally deny God and go your own way. You naturally don’t want grace because on your own you don’t need grace. It’s been since the beginning, since sin first entered the human race, that people have rebelled against grace and gone their own way. And in denying their need for grace they deny their need for God.
But, at the climax of all that rebelling and own-doing, when it seems like death has conquered and won the victory, and life feels further away than it has ever felt before, then a soul throws up its hands in defeat and gives up trying. Yes, when your own-doing proves futile and not enough, then your life softens enough to stop doing on your own. And only then does a soul start receiving. Only then does a life let grace in.
And the impossible becomes possible because what is too late becomes all for good. And those mistakes and failures disappear in the light of your Saviour, Who gives grace upon grace and sees you perfectly as His. And your heart and your mind shout out, “Amen!” in praise, because of the softening. For grace is let in.
And “…Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior” (Titus 1:4) is yours!
