Lord, If it is You
“But Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’
‘Lord, if it’s you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’
‘Come,’ he said...” - Matthew 14:27-29 NIV
When every fear and doubt lead to a beating down of yourself. When every wrong-done and failure-past result in a belittling of who you are. And the fears and the failures become so much more than what they really are.
Hear Jesus say to you. “Do not fear.” Just as He called out to His disciples in the boat, “Take courage! It is I”, hear Him calling the same to you, “Do not be afraid.”
Because when every uncertainty and stumbling block come, they are meant to draw you to Him so you can hear the promise of His presence, ‘It is I. Don’t be afraid.’
For God really is able to conquer death in you. And God really is good and gracious and merciful. He really is loving and caring and tender, and He really is enough for you. He is. God really is. Those doubts and fears don’t stand a chance against God Almighty. Those fears and failures can’t raise a finger in opposition to the LORD God. No way! He is on your side! It’s true.
Fears come. Doubts linger. Failures and mistakes and wrong-doing’s all happen. That’s why Jesus came. “…The Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world” (1 John 4:14). He is our Saviour from all that death.
So let those fears bring you to the place where you see Jesus. Let those failures cause you to cry out, “Lord, if it is you, tell me to come to you.” Because the water is deep, and you need to hear Him calling to you. So you can depend on Him and trust in Him alone, He must be the One calling out to you.
Hear His voice calling you, and come to Him. There is no greater rest and peace than in His green pastures (Psalm 23:2), where He sets you apart as holy (Colossians 1:22) and He rescues you, guaranteed (Zechariah 8:7)!
