Where You Are Free.

That obligation must go.  Thats sense of responsibility and duty, that weight of earnest striving to do good.  It all must go.  It must.

For Christ's life to shine through, for your life to be entirely Spirit-led, for you to see God and hear God and know God, that obligation must go.  It must.

For the moment we oblige, the moment we insist, the moment we push and force and 'make it work' on our own - for it is always on our own - that is the moment we step out of, and away from, God's life-giving Spirit.  That is the moment you are living your life on your own.

And you fall back into this world, into self, and into death.  For it is always the end result, death is always the end result.

Because you fall into feeding this same life with your fighting, always fighting, and your working, always working, to make it work.  And you tire.  With your efforts and your good-intentions and your ambitions.  To make it work, on your own.  And you fall into watering this same life, the only life you know, with water that never satisfies.  So you thirst, always, for more.

But let your thirst bring you back to the Living Water.  Let your hungering for more lead you back to the Bread of Life.  Back to Christ.  Back to your Risen Saviour.  Who longs to give you life for death.  His life, eternal life, abundant life.

Where you are free from obligations and duties and responsibilities that only weigh down.  And you find your sole responsibility, your sole purpose, is to know and to love and to abide in your Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  And from there there is only, always, ever, overwhelmingly sufficient life.

Because that is where life is found.  That is where abundant life is found, where you are free.  In Christ.

Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." - John 4:13-14
