But You Do Know Christ

Ok, so the Enemy is very real. And in that moment when you’re caught off guard, when you’re feeling pretty tired, and a little overwhelmed with this life, you know it even more. How very real he is. Because in that moment, you gave in to the weight of it. You gave in to all that he was taunting you with - the futility and despair, those fears, that comdemnation. And it’s like he’s won. It’s like he’s received the victory, over your life.

In that moment. That moment that stretches into minutes and hours. Into days. Of torture. Discouragement. Depression. Because you’ve failed, again. Because ‘it’s all your fault, again.’

Oh, the agony! Those lies!

That’s all they are. Lies. And the only thing to do with lies is to bring them to the Light.

“LORD, where are You? Oh LORD, I need You! Again!”

How can what is so small mount to such monumental, impactful, destruction? To your day, to each moment? Such torture! How? And the repetition of it. Again and again. The heartbreak of it. The despair, oh, the despair!

Again and again.

“Oh God, this is Your territory! Where are You?”

But the LORD, He is good. And great is His faithfulness! Always! Yes, the LORD, He is compassionate. And His steadfast love endures forever!

“Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!” - Psalm 117

So you don’t understand it. You don’t know, and you don’t fathom the depths of the pit that you remain stuck in, in those moments of defeat. No, you don’t, because you can’t. You can’t understand it. For the darkness is where you can’t see. The confusion is where you can’t find. The depths are where you can’t reach. For anything of the Truth. It is just too dark.

But you do know Christ Jesus. And you can know Him. More and more. And, really, that’s why He came. To be the Light of the world, to all you who say, “I want to know You, LORD.” He came to be the Light in your darkness. For He has conquered the grave in your life. He has redeemed your life from death. He has set you free from the darkness. So you can know Him.

So do not be dismayed by the enemy’s taunts, and do not be dismayed by the depths of the pit he longs to keep you stuck in. Our God is greater! His love is deeper. His mercy is new every morning. His compassion never fails! No, do not be dismayed by the enemy’s tactics, but fall back into the LORD’s arms again and again. It’s where life is found, where every form of darkness flees. Where the enemy has no victory over you, over your life.

For you are a child of the Light, walk then “as children of light.” - Ephesians 5:8

“But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us...” - 2 Corinthians 7:6

“Let those who fear the LORD say, ‘His steadfast love endures forever.’ Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” - Psalm 118:4-6
