The One

When you think you must work on that, to make it right, to make them right, to fix that problem. To somehow make it better. When you think it’s all up to you.

Wait there a minute, and remember.

Who hung the stars in place? Who set the universe in motion? Who made every heart and knows every heart-beat? Who is sovereign over this world and all in it? Who is it? Is it you? Is it them?

Because there is One we cannot explain. There is One we cannot fully understand. One Whom, when we try to explain and grasp, we find our words fall short and our minds prove futile. There is One Whom we can choose to acknowledge, or not. There is One. Almighty God, the One Who placed all things in their place, and knows all things. It is Him. The LORD God Almighy. The One Who orchestrates all events and works all things for good. It is Him Who hung the stars. Not you. And we all know it to be true. Really, we do. We all know it. But, will you acknowledge it, that it is not up to you? Will you acknowledge it is all up to Him?

Because when you go on and take your load of responsibility, from God. When you go on and work on them, to fix that, to make it right, all on your own. When you hold that obligation and you carry that weight. You act like it is all up to you.

But God does not need your help. He simply wants you. As you. With all your messes. In all that chaos. Surrounded by all those imperfect others in your life. As is. He wants you.

And He wants to show you He is enough, in all that. When you have Him. That true life is not found in the seen externals. Not in the fading beauty of what can only be seen. Not in the temporal, fleeting winds and waves of life here and now, here on this earth. But in Him. Life is found in Him. Where the wind and the waves, roar as they may, become still in the presence of Jesus. Where the doubts and the fears, real as they are, become powerless in the presence of Jesus.

Yes, it’s there that life is found. In Jesus. Knowing your worth, knowing your value. To Him. Knowing His greatness, knowing His sovereignty. To you. And there, you will be able to surrender. There, you will be able to stop trying to fix that and change them. When you choose to acknowledge Him. There. It’s there. Life is, there. Because it’s true, He wants you. His great, eternal plan is for your good and His glory. And He will bring His plan to completion, it is in His hands entirely. It’s not up to you.

So you don’t have to work on that to change them or to fix that problem in you. He’s in the work of carrying you, of carrying them, and His work is good, right from the beginning. For He is the One true God over it all.

Yes, He is the One!
