Christ Will Save!

When you don’t know what to do with the sin in your life, in you. When you don’t know how to reckon with it’s presence after you’ve been saved by the blood, saved from the penalty of your sin, but still, you sin.

So you feel you must get rid of your sin, like it’s your mission. And you begin to believe that God asks of you to do the ridding. Yourself. As though it’s up to you. Like God depends on you. To do your part.

It happens when sin overwhelms.

And it is only natural, then, to do what you do. To pull your own weight. You ‘do the right thing’, to fight against the wrong in you. You fight against everything that denies Christ’s life in you. Because you don’t know what else to do, so you feel must prove, to them, to yourself, to the whole world, to God Himself, that Christ is alive and well in you.

Like Jesus needs proving.

But that’s what happens when your focus is on the sin. That’s what happens when you think you must get rid of it yourself. You will grasp for some proof, that the sin is gone. Some proof that Jesus is alive. Because it’s all up to you.

When Christ has declared, already, “It is finished.”

So remember.

Who died on that cross to save you from sin?

You know it! Jesus.

Who rose again from the grave to conquer death?

You know it! Jesus.

Whose resurrection life gives life? Do you know? Who rose again to give you life? Do you know it? Jesus!

All Jesus!

You cannot rid your life of sin. No matter how hard you try. No matter how determined you are. You can’t. Only Jesus can. So quit trying.

And there, in the stopping, there, in your being still. There, in your acknowledging your need for Christ. There. Right there. Is life. Because Jesus is Saviour in you. There. And He will take what you can’t handle. He will do His good work. He will cover and protect and shield you. Yes, He will set you free from the presence of sin that haunts you so much here on earth. Because Christ has taken away sin’s power, already. And that sin that is present, Jesus wants to free you from it’s taunting too. And He can! Oh, He can and He will, if you let Him.

Yes. Christ was never meant to be only a ticket to heaven, leaving you here on earth to struggle on your own with your sin. No. Christ came to save, now! Let Him do His work. Let Him do what He came to do, for you and in you. Right now. He will do it! In you, He will do it! You can trust Him. Christ will save!

****

“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.

“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.... So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, ... but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.

“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”

Romans 6:6-8,11-14
