Without Excuse

Your stepping out of the darkness and into the light, it is as much a step of obedience as it is of faith. The two go hand-in-hand.

For after having experienced the presence of the Lord, and having seen and heard. After having been healed, and having received from the Lord, all by faith, your obedience must come. For the light to shine in your darkness, it is your obedience by faith that’ll bring forth growth and fruitfulness.

Because, once God comes down to find you. Once you see and experience Him. Once you receive from Him, healing and grace, forgiveness and mercy. Yes, once you’ve received from Him, you are without excuse. And it’s true, your next step in faith is all up to you, to obey or not.

Your stepping out of the darkness, your sinning no more, your stepping into the light. Your obedience. It is all up to you. The choice is yours.

And it’s not like you’re ever alone in this battle (John 16:33), it’s not like He’s left you alone (Deuteronomy 31:8), it’s not like you have no power to do obey (Philippians 3:10). When that temptation to sin comes again, it’s not like you have no choice. No! You are without excuse.

Your choice to step into the light is always a choice, an applying of all diligence to obey by faith.

That you may be neither useless nor unfruitful in Christ Jesus (2 Peter 1:8). That you may be found growing in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). That you may walk as a child of the light (Ephesians 5:8).

And after having received from Him, that you may truly receive Him!

“Jesus stood up and said to her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ She said, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.’ Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” - John 8:10-12

“...So [you] are without excuse.” - Romans 1:20

“Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in yourknowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 2 Peter 1:5-8 (NASB)
