Where You Stand
Nothing about following the Lord is dull, nothing. When Christ is near.
It’s true. Only when He becomes distant does your following Him become dull.
Pure and simple.
And distance only happens when you forget where you stand before God Almighty, as a child of His. When you forget who you are in Christ, then Christ feels distant and your following Him feels lifeless, feels dull. It’s true.
So where do you stand before God Almighty? Your nearness to Him depends on it. The abundance of life you receive from Him depends on it. Your following Him, whether rich or dull, depends on it.
Where do you stand?
Loved and cherished? Then every call to obedience is a love call. And every act of obedience becomes a wild and spontaneous step of faith that pulls you out of your common-sense, logistical self. That’s what love does.
Forgiven and redeemed? Then every thought in life is covered by His mercy. And every right you hold dear is forgotten in the light of His grace, where you no longer point a finger, but learn to love unconditionally. That’s what forgiveness does.
Valued and worthy? Then every part of your life has meaning and purpose. And every step forward is covered and protected with such worth that there is no shadow of a doubt left in your mind when you hear His voice. That’s what value does.
Weak and needy? Then every deed, every act, every work, every endeavour, is impossible without Him. And everything you do is covered by and lead by and initiated by the Holy Spirit, Who becomes your very breath and life and the only Source of anything good in you. That’s what weakness does.
And that’s what knowing your stance in Christ before God Almighty does. It replaces dullness for life, life in Christ, which is life abundant!
