All He Asks

You plant to see fruit. You plan to see results. You get up and step forward every day to reach for that goal. To reach for something better and meaningful and worthy in your day. Just so that your life counts and you somehow make a difference, so that your life matters.

When all He asks of you is to follow. To let go of control and follow. To let be and follow.

But still, you strive to make yourself better. You fight to resist that temptation and conquer that sin. You get up and step forward each day, to change yourself for the good, to become able and gain meaning from what you can accomplish. Just so that your life excels and you somehow gain value, so that your life succeeds.

When all He asks of you is to surrender. To humble yourself and surrender. To give up the fight and surrender.

But still, you study diligently to gain approval. You work hard to show Him you can. All for His glory. You sacrifice and you give, more and more. And it’s a challenge to get up each and every day just to step forward, to give and to work and to sacrifice more. All for Him. But you believe you must so you press on. Just so that your life is proven worthy and you have somehow achieved high recognition, so that your life proves itself worthy of acceptance.

When all He asks of you is to come. To rest from your efforts and come as you are. To stop at the crossroads and come.

For to all of you who’ve believed on the Lord Jesus, He is Saviour of your soul. 100%. He took care of everything for you, from start to finish. It is finished. Nothing more is needed from you. Nothing at all.

So you can follow, knowing your life matters because of Christ alone. You can surrender, knowing your life succeeds when free in Christ. And you can come to Him, knowing your life is welcomed as is, weak and unable.

Because all He asks of you is to follow, to surrender, and to come. And you know you can, all because Christ Jesus has made the Way for you!
