When The Tears Flow
When your hardness fails. You know, all of those means you use just to get by, all of those methods you try to survive, all of that on-your-own determination you rely on to direct your one life. The building of walls to protect yourself. The doing it right to gain approval. The distancing your life to prevent heartache. The speculation, the critical eye, the doubt, the fear. And all the striving for success and fulfillment and acceptance that you do all in your own might.
When all that hardness fails, and the tears finally come. Those tears of brokenness. Those tears of acknowledgment. That you no longer believe in your own strength, that you no longer believe you are able to conquer your own weaknesses, let alone others’. For you finally see your weakness as weakness.
When that happens, praise the LORD!
And let the tears flow. Because that weakness, it’s there on purpose, it’s how you were made, on purpose. So let the tears flow, and the despair and the brokenness come.
Because that hardness must crumble and fail you for your soul to see and to hear, for your soul to be and to let go.
And your weakness must be, so you can know. That Jesus is the calm within the storm, not the escape from the storm. That Jesus is the Way to eternal life, the Truth that sets free, and the Life for all who would receive, right here, right now, not merely the distant promise for the future. He is for you right now. He came for you, for right here. For the immediate, right-now. He came.
So when the tears flow, rejoice! Take delight in your God! Your weakness is good, for the Lord God is praised and raised and honoured and glorified, all through your weakness. Your weakness is good, for it grants you access to the sovereign, omnipotent, mighty and gracious arms of the LORD God Almighty Who is so good and so faithful to you!
And letting the Lord Jesus in. Letting the LORD reign. Receiving and believing He is enough for you. Is when your weak, simple, feeble yes grants you access to Christ and all His glory! For the storm within your soul meets with the Lord Jesus from upon His throne, and you will see and hear His voice. So that from within the storm all around you are able to stop, to rest, and to receive all that He is for you. All because you said yes to Christ. Right there, right now. When you let the tears flow.
