But Dust

You so want to make your mark. On this world. On those people. For the good. Because of your good, because of what you can offer. To make your mark. To be a difference. To show your life matters.

But you are but dust. And your time here is but here then gone. In light of all of eternity, your life here and now is but a breath. But dust.

And yet.

For all of eternity, your life matters. It does. Life matters a whole lot. Your one life matters a whole lot.

And it matters regardless of the mark. It’s the good news. Your worth was pre-determined at the Cross where Jesus Christ died for you. So that any sort of mark you could possibly make on this earth makes no difference on your great value to Him.

It’s true.

Regardless of any sort of mark you could ever make on this earth, your life matters a whole lot. That’s why He came. That’s why He died. And that’s why He rose again. To give you eternal, abundant life with Him. Because you matter to Him.

Christ died, was buried and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Because your life matters. He took the punishment for your sin, conquered death’s hold on you, and rose victorious, all to give you life (Romans 6:6-11). For all of eternity. To you and all who would believe and receive Christ (John 3:16).

Because the mark that matters is what only Christ can do in and through you. When you know your worth to Him. When you see your great value to Him. When you believe He is enough to cover every sin and make a way for you back to God. Then His mark has made the difference on your life for all of eternity.

It’s what makes a life of but dust into something glorious - when the very life of Christ is alive and well within the soul that has allowed Him in. And though your life is but a breath that is here now then gone, your one life matters for all of eternity.

Because of Christ alone!

“O LORD, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him? Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.” - Psalm 144:3-4 ESV

“All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the LORD blows on it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” - Isaiah 40:6-8 ESV

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man.” - Ecclesiastes 3:11-13 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16 ESV
