Okay With It All

So you just want to jump ahead, to know the outcome, to see the future, to have the results. For you just want to be comforted, assured, and satisfied with life and all that’s going on. With the hardships and the struggles. With the shock and the angst. With the fear and the doubt. To be okay with it all, you just want to jump ahead, right now, to know.

Thinking knowing were it.

Were all that was needed to receive peace. To know grace and mercy and love. To have assurance.

Like knowing were it. Like knowing was the answer, the way, the good outcome in life.

But it is not. No, it is not.

“Then the LORD God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—‘ therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.” - Genesis 3:22-24 ESV

We were not made to endure the knowing of good and evil. No. We were not meant to know all of it, for all of eternity. It would destroy us. It’s just too much, it’s not meant for us to have to carry. That’s why He sent us out of the garden, so we would not have to bear knowing forever. So that we could give up our knowing to Him.

And when all the questions and the doubts, the fears and the despair, all shout out, “When? How? Why?” In your longing to know. When all of your wants and desires wrestle with what is reality and what are the stepping stones and the means and the actual way. To the Prince of Peace. When all that struggling from within you begins, do not settle there, for less than the One Who is calling you.

Because it’s true, He is calling you. Right there from within that not-knowing yet wanting to know. Right there from within that struggle to let go of the knowing. From within that battle within, nagging at you to eat of the fruit and know. From right there, He is calling you back to His side.

Back to the garden, where you once walked freely with Him. Back to His side, where He will lead and guide and comfort you. Back to Him, where all of life and joy and peace abound. Always!

It’s where the outcomes and the end results no longer matter. Just the glorious presence of the One Who is able to make all things for good. It’s where your peace and assurance are rock solid on the Rock, where you are not shaken, for you will not be shaken in the presence of Jesus. No matter what comes your way. No matter what tempts you once again to eat of the apple, to seek for knowledge, to just jump ahead so as to know. No matter what, Jesus.

And right here, right now. And it is okay. Because Jesus knows, so you are okay with it all.
