Starting to Stop
You gotta quit thinking your stopping is not enough. Your stopping to be still, your stopping within all of those going-ons and all of that doing, your stopping to see Him. You gotta quit thinking it’s not enough.
Because it happens. When you think your stopping is not enough, you end up thinking you have to do more, so much more. Like you have to be more, always more.
And then it happens. Your doing keeps you from abiding. It keeps you from surrendering. It keeps you from letting go and softening and seeing. It does. This pressing on, always pressing on. This never stopping. Never pausing. Never being still long enough. It causes you to believe it’s all up to you to do and to be so much more.
So you, you gotta stop.
Because it’s God Who wants to show you so much more than the present tasks that overwhelm and consume. Yes, so much more. He wants to show you how life is intended to come from Him. Instead. Instead of the draining and the tiring and the stretching of your one life. Instead of the demanding from you for more and more. Instead of the always being worn down, by just one more day.
Instead, Christ. So much more, instead. Life, instead. Freedom and joy and peace and rest. Instead.
Oh, can you believe it?! From the same old stuff that always drains - life instead! From the same old tasks that always bind down - freedom instead! From the same old mundane that always bores - joy instead! From the same old stress that always robs - peace instead! From the same old busy that always is - rest instead! Can you believe it? Yes! Believe it! Life and freedom, joy and peace, and rest. Iin Christ Jesus your Lord! And it’s all in your stopping, your stopping to see Him. Because He is enough. So your stopping is enough. Always!
For it’s the only consolation when you’re at the end of your trying. When you’re done with this living. When you’re finally willing to stop. The only comfort is that He will rescue you. That He will come for you. And He will be enough for you.
For your stopping to surrender is all that is needed. For you to know Christ Jesus and His sufficiency in all things. For you to see Christ Jesus and the power of His resurrection in your life, always. For you to rest and abide and enjoy Christ Jesus!
It’s where your stopping is enough because Christ Jesus is more than enough!!
