How Surrender Happens
What if it has nothing to do with you? Absolutely nothing. Nothing to do with your effort and strength to ‘get her done’. Nothing to do with your ability and success to faithfully serve and walk in obedience. What if it has nothing to do with you? Absolutely nothing. And everything to do with Him.
That’s how surrender happens. It’s a letting go of your ability to conquer and control. It’s a letting go of your right to have a say and make a way. Surrender is a knowing, “This has nothing to do with me, absolutely nothing.”
Because it has everything to do with Christ. Oh, how He must increase, and you must decrease (John 3:30). For you to walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7), He must increase to where it has absolutely nothing to do with you, and everything to do with Him.
Christ, Who has conquered the grave for you (1 Corinthians 15:55), rising victorious to redeem you in love (Psalm 103:4). Yep, it has everything to do with Him.
And God’s kindness and love is revealed to you, His child. For Christ’s grace makes you right and gives you confidence that the eternal life promised to you is as sure as already done. So you can let go in surrender.
Because it has nothing to do with you. Absolutely nothing.

“When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.” - Titus 3:4-7 NLT
