Rest and Life

Are you casting that burden onto the LORD?

It’s the only way for that overwhelming sense of responsibility to leave.

Because weight and responsibility and obligation come only when there is no casting.

And you carry that weight when you hold out there, in that expectation to make your way through life on your own, bearing them burdens, on your own. But you tire quickly when you believe it is all up to you. God never intended for you to ‘bear down under it’, ‘carry your own weight’, and work and work and work harder. He never intended for you to just ‘grin and bear it’. Never! God has not ever intended for you to receive some sort of life that way. It is impossible that way!

There is but one way to life eternal. One way. The Way. Christ Jesus our Lord.

He is the only way.

Because apart from the Vine, we really cannot do anything. Apart from the Source of all life, we really have no life. Apart from Jesus, there is only ever weight-bearing and burden-carrying. Only ever. There is no way around it. If you are doing life without Jesus, you are attempting to carry life’s weight on your own, and that’s the best way to tire quickly, to crash and burn. So very quickly!

So you, weight-bearer, over there, stop right there and listen here. Listen to what God promises to you.

He promises rest and eternal life, when we come to Him. He promises that we will not be weary, when we wait on Him. It’s the good news that gives life - Christ Jesus Himself!

Oh, it’s true!

“…they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31 ESV

“whoever drinks of the water that [Jesus] will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that [Jesus] will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” - John 4:14 ESV

Oh, don’t you hear it? He’s calling to you! Cast that burden of yours onto Him. Right now. He will carry it. And run to Him. Right now! He will give you rest. He is that able!!
