The Only Way

Oh the severity of the LORD. The black and white. The right and the wrong. And the impossibility of it all. The rules and the laws. The standards and requirements.

On purpose. The severity, on purpose.

Every law. Every standard. Every requirement. All on purpose.

For righteousness’ sake.

Because God is righteous, and He is in the work of making His people righteous.

But one way. The only Way.

Because the severity of God is really the display of His holy righteousness, how nothing of evil and darkness can ever touch the one true Almighty God. How holiness can never be tainted with what is unholy. And how righteousness can always remain pure. Only through severity.

Because God Almighty desires relationship with His creation, those who have fallen away from the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And the truth is, we also desire this relationship. We do. Deep down within our very being of heart, soul and mind, we long for God.

Which makes it impossible. That’s the whole severity of it all - the very impossibility of it all for all people.

“For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.” - James 2:10

And it is impossible.

But then Love stepped in. Free and unconditional. Love stepped in and made a way.

It’s where the severity highlights again and again the grace and mercy of God. All because of Love. Our LORD is holy and righteous. Perfect, in fact. Our LORD is just and fair. Blameless, in fact. And for you to be in relationship with Almighty God, the Holy and Righteous One, He requires you to be holy and righteous. Perfect AND blameless, in fact. It’s true.

"You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." - Matthew 5:48

And it is impossible.

So Love made a way. Love had to make the way. It would be impossible, otherwise.

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” - 1 John 4:9

There is but one way. The only Way.

“Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! ...” - Romans 1:25a

He made the way. He is the Way, the only way for you, the unholy one, to be made holy and righteous, united with God, the Holy and Righteous One. Receive by faith what Christ did for you today and be united with Him forever! He is the only Way!
