How to Abide

Father, teach me to stop. It’s how to abide. I know it. But I fear I am not able. Teach me, Father.

Every moment I am tempted to stand my ground and prove my point, remind me to stop. Open my ears to hear You calling me to Your side. So I can abide.

Every time I spiral down in fear and anxiety, show me how to stop. Open my eyes to see You before me, and always with me. So I can abide.

Every waking hour of every day I am alive and breathing and walking on this world that snares and snags me to follow the wide path that leads to destruction, guide me to stop. And open my heart to know Your desire for me. So I can abide.

Father, teach me to stop. Remind me to stop. Show me how and guide me in the way to stop. So I can abide. So I can hear from You, see Your glory all around me, and know Your great love for me.
