What Matters - Part 1

What you set your mind on, what you invest your time in, what you pour your life into. It matters, a whole lot, it does.

But now, don’t you stew over the details of it all. Of your one life, that is. There is but one way. Don’t you know? So don’t you toss and turn over that decision, that choice, past or present, that wrong or right done, that guilt. Don’t you toss it over and over, again and again. For that is not life.

Don’t you know?

All that time you invested in what you felt was good, in what you honestly believed was right to do. All that effort, it can still feel all a waste. It can. When it doesn’t turn out how you thought, when you can’t see the reason for it. When it weighs down and tires out, and you can’t see the end of it. When it no longer promises life to you.

It can all feel a waste. It can. Because you look to the seen realm. So it all feels a waste. But it is not.

Because it’s not the details of what you’ve done with your time and your energy and your life. That matter. It’s Who you’ve given your time and your energy and your life to. That matters. That makes it worthwhile, or not.

No, it’s not wasted because of what you’ve done. It’s never wasted when the softening of your heart is the result. Lost opportunity, maybe. Extra hurts, very plausible. But never wasted.

Because all that time invested and life poured out and mind exhausted. They did what they were intended to do in your one life - to bring you to surrender. Yes, they were good and right in your life, to do. They were not wasted. It was not wasted time. Not at all.

When Christ is the end result (Philippians 1:21).

When your surrender is the final outcome (Philippians 2:10).

When in it all and through it all, you found Christ to be more than all.

Yes, your life is never wasted when Christ is found. For you found life! And only He is life! The only way to life. Eternal, abundant, life. Christ!

“... And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith...” - Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

“But God chose what is foolish in the world ... God chose what is weak in the world ... God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not ... so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption” - 1 Corinthians 1:27-30 ESV
