What Matters - Part 2
How you set your mind, how you invest your time, how you pour out your life. It all matters a whole lot. It sure does.
But now, don’t you strive so hard to get it right, show it right and prove it right, by doing it right. No. You only put expectations and obligations on yourself then, and it becomes up to you to reach for and achieve those goals, so as to succeed. But that is not life.
Don’t you know?
When you think you’ve got this life figured out, and you think you know how to do your living right, then you begin to live life on your own. But you cannot.
Because you are weak, so very weak.
But it is good, so very good.
For weakness leads to the only thing that matters.
Yes, don’t you know? It’s your weakness that is rescuing your very life. Because it is allowing you to receive the greatest gift ever - Christ’s Life!
Your weakness is exactly how Christ’s life is let in to your one life. It really is.
How every time you fall apart, you soften. How every time you soften, you see your weakeness more. And how every time you weaken, you hurt unto death. Every time. More and more. Again and again. And surrender happens. Yes, always, where death of self happens, surrender happens.
It’s a softening into surrender, where a weakening leads to the willingingness needed.
And only one thing matters then, in your surrender. Your holding on to Christ for all you are worth. Your grabbing hold of His truth and proclaiming it to your oneself because you know you need to hear it and you know you need to breathe it, in order to live it.
And there, you show what matters! Because your one life is living it. Your walking with Him day by day is proclaiming it. When you let Him hold you in your weakness, give Him control of your anxiety and fears, and allow Him to be your very life. Because you know you can’t do it. You know you can’t change your oneself, or the situation. Oh, you know it. You are weak and fragile and unable. But Christ is able! So let your one life show it loud and clear! How only Christ saves!
That is surrendering how to live this one life. Because that is allowing the Holy Spirit to move, freely and unhindered through your life, giving up on your own effort. You have surrendered the how of your life to Christ, and a glorious thing happens! You have learned what it really means to invest your time and pour your life into Christ. Yes, you have learned what really matters.
Where Christ Jesus is all that matters. Christ Jesus alone.
