The Light of Christ

Oh, now, don’t you start thinking it’s up to you. To show the Light, to be the Light, to proclaim the Light. How could you ever expect to give an accurate representation of the Light, oh you of unclean lips (Isaiah 6:5)! How?

Don’t you even go there!

It is Christ Who has made you righteous. Christ did it! Not you! And when you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, you died with Him. Yep, you no longer live. The life you now live is by faith alone in Christ alone. (Galatians 2:20)

So every effort you attempt to qualify, every work you attempt to justify, and every self-righteous deed you attempt to make holy. Before God Almighty. They only become as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).

When you start thinking it is up to you.

It is not up to you!

To make right. To be right. To act and to do right. It is not up to you to do and to be. No!

“For [the LORD does] not delight in sacrifice…; [He] will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” - Psalm 51:16-17 ESV

So stop! Stop carrying the responsibility to display the Light! Stop trying to represent the Light! Stop trying so hard in your own might to be the Light! You are not the Light.

Jesus is the Light. And when Jesus is Lord of your life, the Light of Christ in your life simply is!

Yes, you can tell it, when a life displays the Light. You can tell it, because that life reflects the Light, without even knowing it. That life does not proclaim its efforts, justify its results, nor control its circumstances. That life simply lives it. And the Light of Christ is shown and proclaimed for all to see, as the Light of Christ is lived for all to see!

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” - John 8:12 ESV
