Eternity In View

When everything of the past just rushes at you, catching you by surprise, and the fear and the doubt and the panic set in. And all you know is the immediate, seen now. That you must gain control of. That you must react to, deal with, address and manipulate.

That’s when Kingdom-mindedness is gone, and the world with all its troubles is here.

In that moment when everything just rushes at you, and the immediate right now becomes all. When you have lost your vision of eternity. It’s why the past creeps up and fear rises. And the injustices of the moment, with everything that lies ahead, become such insurmountable mountains. To you.

And it’s why Christ feels distant. And God feels unable. To you.

But freedom is always found when eternity is in view! When you lift your eyes, when you look up and remember your first love, that you are loved, that you can love because He first loved you. That’s where the Creator and Sustainer of your soul is everything, and the things of this world are nothing. And that’s when you can follow Him wholeheartedly! You can! When the One Who is eternity is in view, and you live in the reality of Christ’s Kingdom, then everything else fades. It does!

In His sanctuary. In His dwelling place. Life exists and eternity is found! Only there, in looking up, do you find the One Who is Eternal Life, the very Giver of Life, leading and guiding you, and sheltering you from all that life threatens to chain you with. Keep looking up, dear child of His. He is faithful to you!

And every circumstance that demands more and every storm from within that rages on within the immediate now, is silenced, for the child of God simply is, when eternity is in view.

"How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God." - Psalm 84:1-2
