Again and Again, Grace
What if you never did do-your-part, pull-your-weight, or get-it-right, so as to defend your cause and increase your odds? What if you couldn’t and you didn’t do what was needed to be accepted and loved, so as to rest and be assured? What if, in fact, you did it all wrong?
Again and again.
And you never did learn how to behave or what to say. You never got out of that rut to take a step forward and see improvement. In fact, you only ever found everything to get more difficult the further you got from the desired goal.
What if?
Or, what if your story was a different one?
What if you always did-your-part, carried your weight, and got-it-right, so as to prove your point and show your worth? What if you always could and always did do what was needed to be accepted and approved, so as to be strong and successful? What if, in fact, you did it all right?
Again and again.
And you did actually learn how to grow in knowledge and appearance. You climbed that ladder of importance while standing tall and carrying that weight of perfection. But, in fact though, you only ever found everything to get more difficult the closer you got to the desired goal.
Because depending on those actions to determine your fate, whether by doing it all wrong or doing it all right, leads to but the same thing. Despair.
So what if instead, those actions didn’t matter and nothing of you was needed to rest and be assured. No good deeds or wrong choices. No right decisions or bad mistakes. What if instead, those actions had nothing to do with your acceptance and approval?
What if God was able to make you right? As is. Do you suppose He would be big enough for you?
Your Creator, the very One Who made you, the Potter Himself Who shaped you and molded you, do you suppose He would be big enough for you? Even you? Right where you are at, with all of your troublesome baggage and selfish trophies, with all of your expectations and disappointments, with all of your failures and successes. Has God really taken all of you into account to make you right? Is He really still big enough to account for you? Even you?
Absolutely, He is!!
When God said He loved the world so much that He sent His Son (John 3:16). When God said He saved all who have believed on His Son (Acts 16:31), because of the death of His Son (Galatians 4:5), to make us alive to Himself in Christ Jesus, His Son (Romans 6:10-11). When God said He removed all condemnation from those who have received His Son (Romans 8:1), gave peace beyond understanding to those in His Son (Philippians 4:7), and taught all things to those who love His Son (John 14:23,26).
When God said all that, and meant all that for you, He was and is big enough to provide all that for you, to guide and to protect and to love you!
Because what He did and what He promised is all for you. When He says, ‘all who have believed’, He means you. And when He said, ‘it is finished’(John 19:30), He meant it is finished for you. What God purposed and put in place was enough to redeem the world, even you. God really is big enough for you, for all of you!
“He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.” (Isaiah 40:11 ESV)
That’s grace. Again and again, grace! Enough for you!
