Done With the Fighting

So you’re all done with the fighting, and you’re ready to give up. Because this Christian life you've been living, it's been such a fight. The work of it all feels like such a fight. And that’s what it really is, a fight. This Christian life, it is a fight when you work to make it work.

So you are done with the fighting. You know it, it just has to stop. It just has to. It doesn't feel worth it anymore. The striving, the trying, the effort. The work. It is all a fight, a fight to survive, a fight to live. So you are done, you are really done and really ready to give up.

But now, what‘s holding you back?

For when you look at your strivings and your trying and all the effort you are putting forward. When you see all the work, and you count it as the cost, the cost of following Jesus, you will feel like giving up. You will. That's how it's supposed to be (Matthew 16:24-25).

Because the cost of following Jesus, the cost of living the Christian life, it's about giving up. Christ Jesus came to give up His life, to give you life. And to receive this gift, you too must be willing to give up your life. Yes, true life in Christ Jesus, the only real life there is, it was never meant to be worked for, never meant to be fought for. It was only ever meant to be given for.

So what is holding you back?

From surrender. From giving up the fight and letting God take over. From stopping and trusting Him.  What is holding you back?

When you are done with the fighting, seek the LORD and receive life, the very life He came to give.
