Always in the Asking

Oh, if only you knew of the gift of abundant life that Jesus has for you. If only you knew of His promises to you, for then you would ask, and then He would give.

For all who ask receive (Matthew 7:7, James 1:5).

It’s true.

And you will find rest for your soul, in the asking, always in the asking (Jeremiah 6:16).

In this hardship and struggle. Through this deep, deep loss of independence. Because of this hurt and this pain. Even in this, you will find rest for your soul, because of the asking, for when you ask from God you will receive from Him. Every time.

But when you fear to ask and you hold back. When, instead of asking, you hide in shame and settle for less, because of the pain and hardship, then you resist receiving from God. And in your resisting, you take all that God has for you, and you hide it in the ground of control, sheltering it with the dirt of self-ability and pride (Matthew 25:25). Fear does that to a soul. It prevents you from receiving the goodness of God.

But Christ came to give abundant life! This is the good news! Christ Jesus has for you a gift of living water that overflows in abundance. For all who would receive.

Abundant life. Living water. Christ Jesus Himself. Hear Him calling to you to come and receive, to come and ask, for “…whoever drinks of the water that [Jesus] will give… will never be thirsty again. The water that [Jesus] will give… will become [in you] a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

Come to Christ and thirst no more. Your asking is your surrendering to receive, allowing Christ to conquer your fear. Always in the asking.
