It Happens, Every Time!

You know it as the right thing to do. To attend church and read the Bible. To memorize Scripture and pray. To give and love, forgive and help. To serve and sacrifice. To do right. It is all the right thing to do. So you do the right thing, thinking it is all that must be. And you are right in doing right.

Until you can’t.

Because that’s what happens. Doing the right thing only goes so far and only does so much, and soon you can’t. You can’t keep up, and you can’t measure up.

It happens, every time.

Because right being cannot be achieved by right doing. Doing the right thing is not righteousness at all. It never has been. It never will be. Right doing is not how to be made right. No. Not ever.

“…for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.” (Galatians 2:21)

That’s right. Righteousness is through Christ alone. Not by any of your right doing’s. And that’s the good news! Christ’s death conquered the grave, for a purpose, for a big purpose. It’s a purpose that gives you life, sets you free, washes you clean, and makes you righteous.

Once for all. It really is good news!

So what if, instead of all the right doing, you focus on the righteousness of Christ? And what He’s already done right in you.

For that’s how to “…seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.” (Hosea 10:12 NLT). It’s a simple receiving. To be made right is all about receiving from the One Who is right, for He is in the specialty of making all things right.

And when Christ’s righteousness is your righteousness, your right being flows into your right doing. It happens, every time!
