He Wanted To

Nope. He didn’t have to. Not at all. He didn’t need to, or have to. That’s not how God works.

He didn’t have to save you. He didn’t need to reach down to show you His favour. He didn’t have to make His Presence known to you. He didn’t need to keep every promise or answer every heart cry. He didn’t have to comfort you in that moment and become all for you. He didn’t need to make a way for you to find life. No, He did not have to. He did not need to. Not at all.

But He did. Because that’s how God works.

He wanted to. For He loves you.

“But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, …he who formed you, …: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. …you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you….” - Isaiah 43:1,4

He came to save you for no other reason than He loves you. And He is faithful to you, the one He loves.

Because it’s true.

You need saving. And, oh, how much you need His favour. You need His Presence to comfort you in your time of need and His peace to surround you in your time of crying out. You need your every prayer heard. Because you need Him. You need Him to make a way for you. Yes, you need Him to save.

And Good News! He wanted to!

Because His very nature is love.

God wanted to save you, so you could be His again. He wanted to reach down and show you His favour, so you would know just how accepted you already are. He wanted to make His Presence known to you, fulfill every promise given to you, and show you His faithfulness towards you. He wanted to comfort you so He could become all to you. He wanted to answer and satisfy your every heart cry so He could be trusted by you. He wanted to make a way for you to find life and peace and joy and hope and love, so you would know everything that He is to you. He wanted to. He wanted to. He wanted to. Because God is love, He wanted to. Yes and amen!

Allow God to soften you with His love. Allow Him to set you free in His love.

Because that’s how God works!

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” - 1 John 4:10 NLT
