How Can it Be?
How can it be? A story of so much evil and hurt and pain, be one to cherish? A story to cherish. How can it be?
Your story. Your life. How can it be a cherished story, a cherished life? When you see, when you think of, when you know, all the struggles and heartaches and darkness that you've been through. When you've lived through it all, how can it be, cherished?
Oh, it cannot. Apart from God, it cannot.
For to cherish something, there can be no bitterness towards it. There can be no resentment against it, no deep-down hidden anger about it. Yes, for a life, a story, to be cherished, it cannot have bitterness in it, or resentment, or anger. It cannot. To be cherished, it cannot.
So how can a life be cherished? How?
Because it's only natural to feel bitterness towards the hurt. And it's only just to feel resentment over the pain and the injustice it caused you. It's only right to feel anger towards the evil you've experienced in this world. It's only. Natural and just and right. In your own eyes, it is.
But in God's eyes. Remember. Stop to remember. His Son knowingly came to be, mocked and forsaken, injustly accused, wrongly abandoned, and brutally killed apon a cross, all while innocent, all for you. All for you. To have you. He wants to have you. For you are loved and cherished, by Him. Remember. Who you are in God's eyes.
And every hurt, every pain, every heartache and every time of darkness is turned to good. Only by Him Who is able. Only by Him. Because in the heartache, you sought Him. In the pain, you needed Him. In the evil and in the darkness, only His Light could prevail, and did prevail. Only Him! Only Him! Because only He is Life and Light, and only He can make a story one to cherish, kept and held close to your heart, becoming a lifeline of remembrance of the goodness of your Saviour.
