Empty Hands.
You hesitate and you fear, to come with empty hands. Because empty hands means you didn't cover all the bases. It means you didn't get yourself right and clean and tidied up, first. It means you didn't fully grasp or understand that truth. Before coming to Him.
And you fear to come, because the fear of rejection is very real and valid, to you.
As though your acceptance were up to you.
As though your approval were up to you.
And your empty hands only reveal your inability.
For empty hands are open hands. They cannot hold tightly to control, they cannot grasp onto anything. They can only receive.
And empty hands are vulnerable hands. They cannot pretend to be alright, they cannot hide or cover up anything. They can only expose.
Because empty hands are broken hands. They cannot accomplish or display their abilities, they cannot offer anything. They just cannot. All they can do is only surrender.
So you fear to come, with empty hands. You fear rejection, with empty hands.
But Christ calls, "Come to Me, all you who are tired and weighed down with life." - all you with empty hands, you come.
Because in coming you find there is never rejection, there is only giving, so you can receive. There is only washing, so you can be safe when vulnerable. There is only redemption, so you can be made whole.
Yes, in Christ, you can come, empty. With empty hands, you can come to Him.
To be filled to overflowing, in Christ alone!
And made safe, clean, and whole!
