Only to Follow
When that problem lingers strong and mighty, abiding within your thoughts and your motives. Disturbing your peace. Causing your disrest. Threatening your identity.
That one problem that eats away at you on the inside. That steals your sleep and robs your confidence. Because of the shame and the guilt and responsibility you carry, because of it.
And all you want to do is to fix it. To solve it and cure it. To get rid of it or somehow manipulate it for the good. For their good, for your good. Everything inside of you longs to.
But the problem is not really the problem. No. The deep-down problem is really only that you see the problem as something you must tackle and conquer, on your own. And it becomes your cause. That is up to you.
When all God asks of you is to follow.
Despite the problem. To follow. To follow Him.
Because only then can you abide. And only then does the problem lose its grip, on you.
For is not up to you.
And when we fix our eyes on the problem, when we try to fix it as though it were somehow up to us to find worth in our endeavours and causes, as though it were up to us to make right what was wrong. When we take things into our own hands. God does not go with us. No. For He cannot.
How can God side with you, who has it all figured out already? When you are only trying to build your own Tower of Babel?
"Then they said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves...'" - Genesis 11:4
How can God side with you, who insists and claims and proclaims the right way? When you are only forgetting the Way, the only Way, to Salvation.
The One Who is simply calling you back to His side. Calling you to follow, Him.
And when our eyes turn off the problem and remain always on Him, always following Him. Then, we join forces with God Almighty. Then, you stand in His will for your life. Then, we rest; then, you can finally rest. In Him.
And who could stand against?
