The Cross and the King
When it’s your King hanging there upon that cross, do you know Him? Do you know Him then? When it’s your King hanging there, do you praise Him and honour Him and more intimately know Him, then? As King?
Even then?
Because it’s the cross that displays His great love for you. It’s the cross that shows you your immeasureable worth to Him. Do you see the victory there, for you? In Him hanging there upon that cross, for you?
That you can know Him as King there? From on the cross. Because of the cross. Do you see?
It’s grace and mercy. For you. Because He died, for you. The cross is what will cause you to bend your knee before Him. The cross is what will bring you to surrrender to Him. And it is what will show you what must also die, with Him. That old self, that flesh, that sin disposition, all in you. It is what must die. Sin in you must be crucified with Christ. And you will realize it because of the cross.
So you can know Him as King. The One hanging there upon that cross, for you, so you can know Him as your King. And when you know Him as your King, you will allow Him to take your sin to the grave with Him. Yes, you will surrender your life to Him, the life you once held onto so tightly as a means of control, you will now let go of, to give to Him. And declare Him as your King.
Christ is King! And because of the cross, you now know Him as your King. It was God’s grace and mercy to you that did it, for it was really you who deserved to die. It was God’s love for you that did it, for it was really undeserved on your part, and so unconditional on His. The cross did it!
And that glorious day when Jesus rose from the dead, declaring victory over death, conquering the grave, fulfilling all prophecies, and rising victorious! That glorious day, made possible because of the cross, becomes your glorious day - when Christ’s life rises victorious in you!
It’s when you rise with Him to newness of life, for you know Christ as King, because of the cross.
