Father, Show Me

In this life, Father, never show me how, for then I may think I can figure it out and try to take hold of understanding instead of Your hand.

And Father, do not show me when, for then I may try to manipulate things my way and try to adjust Your timing instead of waiting for Your mighty acts.

But, Father, there is one thing I do want You to show me. Father, show me why. Please, do, remind me of why, of Your deeper why, of the ultimate why. Why You came. Why you died. Why You work the way You do in the people and the trials and the circumstances of life. Always remind me why.

Because You love me, because You love them.

For then I will know You and the power of Your resurrection in me. Yes, may I always know why.

Why You came , why You died, why You even cared. Why You forgave and continue to forgive.

Yes, always show me why, the deeper why of it all. Not only the why of circumstances, but the why of Your purposes. To draw me closer and to keep me holding tight to You. To keep me looking up. And trusting You are making me holy in practice, more like You in this life, so that I receive life, by learning dependency on my Father. Yes, LORD, do always remind me of why.

Always remind me, always show me, always reveal to me why - because You love me.

Because there, right there, knowing why You came for me, I am learning to walk free. And there, right there, knowing You, I am receiving all that You are for me.

It’s exactly where I want to be. It’s exactly where I need to be in order to live.
