To Let Go of the Fight
When you don’t know how to step out in faith, let alone believe. When all you see is the rubble of life all around you. And all you know is that it’s just so hard, so hard to believe enough to step out. So hard to let go enough to walk free. So hard to stop long enough to hear the Way. Because all you see is the rubble of destruction all around you, piled high before you. Every broken relationship and lost opportunity. Every wrong choice and hurtful mistake. Every tension that weighs so heavy and hard thing that brings such despair.
You just don’t know how to believe the Good News with all that rubble all around you.
For all you want to do is fight, and fight hard. Because it’s a fight just to survive, let alone believe.
And so you fight to protect yourself by running away to hide. And you fight to defend yourself by resisting to give up. It’s how you end up fighting just to prove yourself right in the fighting.
That’s what the rubble of life does to a soul, it calls you to the fight.
But there’s another call right there from within that rubble of life all around. It’s a call to your very soul. Right there, along with the call to fight, there is another call. It’s a gentle, quiet whisper. It’s a call to let go of the fight and come to Jesus, so you can abide and rest and find life: Christ Jesus’ very life that has been given to you and for you.
Will you stop to hear His call? From within the fight, will you choose to believe Jesus is enough for you to come to and to trust in? Do you hear His call to let go of the fight? Because from there, where a soul has stopped to let go of the fight, His call is unmistakeable. His call is clear. And coming to Jesus becomes the most natural next step.
For all that’s involved in being able to come to and find rest in Christ Jesus is letting go of the fight. The fight to understand and to make a difference. The fight to be inderstood and to be of value. The fight to achieve life. Letting go of all that fighting is letting go to allow the Prince of Peace in, right there into the rubble of your life, into that hard thing, where you need Him most. Christ Jesus is ready to come into your life and be your Peace right there.
It’s all about abiding fiercly and resting abundantly and living victoriously! Because it’s Christ’s Life that is alive and well in you who have let go of the fight, in you where the Kingdom of God has come! And your soul finally rests and finally abides and truly lives!!
